Football success!

Image
It has been a few busy weeks at work so I havent been able to be as frequent as I want on this blog.. However, back from the second trip for a week, I have to take some time to update you all! The Football Challenge in Chiswick generated 230 GBP from players, and I am still waiting to see what the pub offers me as they promised me a contribution based on our spendings there afterwards, but something around 20 GBP wouldnt be a bad guess. Such a great day, and Im planning for another one early this year as well, so keep your eyes open if you want to join! My fundraising is going really well, so thankful to everyone sponsoring me for this project! I am sure I will reach my target, as now I have half of the total! Talked to the organiser a few days ago and have to make up my mind if I want to stay for another week or not.. feels like a waste of time not to take the chance to see more of Africa when already being there and I have the time off.. But how safe is it to travel on your own?

Football tournament in Chiswick..!

So, I have now got teams for my tournament, and Im really excited about this! Lots of planning comes in now, and that is all fun!

Football is fun!

Hello again, sorry for my absence! Had a great weekend in Norway with all the kids from 12 countries, language barriers and the lot had to be crossed and it was done in a great way, especially by the kids! I was coaching a mixed team, i.e. a team with one player from each country and we were going strongly into the mixed tournament! Great attitude, but a bit unlucky.. We didnt win but I was soo proud of my boys and girls! Came home with great memories and feeling happy and content.. Now its time to plan a new football challenge, but this time its my own event! I am going huge and will do a football tournament for my fundraising, and have invited teams from around the business park where I work so I hope that it will work out fine! Knee is healing now, so I can go out and enjoy the lovely crispy autumn weather in London! Team 9, Mixed Tournament at MTG United for Peace Cup 2011, Oslo. Ciao!

Cinnamon buns and football!

All teams outside Nobel Peace Center after the Peace Walk, before the finals, 2010 http://www.mtgunitedforpeace.com/news/final-here-%E2%80%93-finally Cinnamon buns! So Im now officially a 'bun-mama' as we call them in Sweden.. Bullmamma! I have baked cakes, cinnamon buns, and sold them at the office. They werent great, but still its my 1st or 2nd try, so Im quite pleased anyway.. And, I got 10 pounds for them, so Yeah! :) I still have a swollen knee from my fall a few weeks ago, so my exercise hasnt been too great lately, but as it got worse after my interval runs on Thursday, I thought Id leave it for a while.. So, I baked cinnamon buns instead, and I bet you they were a bit too nice to keep away from even if they looked like mini buns with too much flour.. Ah well, I didnt eat too much, so my healthy diet is still on track :) This week has been superbusy, Im going to Oslo with work to volunteer on our MTG United for Peace Tournament for kids that is held this weekend. W

Thank you!

I am so happily surprised by the generousity of people around me! Thank you so much for supporting Childreach and their work in Tanzania! My knee is feeling a lot better even if it looks horrible still... blue all around, but easier to walk on, def. Cant wait for it to be ok to run on again, this is doing my head in. So much energy and nowhere to spend it! :) Went to see Chelsea-Swansea on Saturday, had a great time at the stadium! Was invited by the friends and I must say it was a great game and event. And Chelsea won after playing really well, so that was very good. I was told that the players have lots of groupies waiting for them outside, travelling from all sorts of places to meet their idols.. lots of girls hanging around the stadium to get a little glimpse.. I guess I just never thought it would be like that with footballers, but then again, Beckham and Cole do have famous girlfriends too.. Anyway, another week to hit and I am sure I will be back on my training soon again!

Motivation...by Letzter (aka MacGyver)

Today I had a great motivation chat with the great Mr Martin Letzter, who has climbed the 7 Summits and also written a book about it. When reading the book, "Adhoc Rocks", you think that this guy is quite a mental person that puts himself in situations you shouldn't really... But as the survivor he is, and very much a practical person, he sorts it out, as well his mates do. As I have the privilege to work with him, I have asked for some tips and ideas when it comes to fundraising and also equipment etc.. After talking to him for a few minutes, I realized that my expedition is far less adventurous than his as I don't attempt to ski down the mountain.. After reading his (and his travel mate's) book, it does feel like they have learned by doing, and they have had to do it over and over to learn what they know today, so Im happy Im asking him now and not before, as then I wouldnt be as confident :) I do feel that he is a huge source of information and advices, so I wi

Ben Nevis, Scotland! Aug, 2011

Ben Nevis Scotch and Ale! After a well done walk up the UK's highest mountain!  Yeah! We reached the top!  Claire at the top!  Halfway up, a lake appears when the mist disappears..  Full scottish breakfast, with haggis.. Clarie checking out Glen Nevis, Ben's little brother.. Thought I should share some pics from Ben Nevis, Scotland! Me and my dear friend Claire went up the mountain, thinking it would be a challenge, but still quite easy.. yeah right! We set off quite happily after a big Scottish breakfast; egg, sausage, bacon, haggis (scottish...) and some coffee. We walked the first 3 miles (5km) to the start, at the Ben Nevis Inn. Its just below Glen Nevis, Ben's little brother, which looked HUGE! Me being the optimistic person that I am, I thought that shorts and tshirt would be perfect for a hike in Scotland.. yeah, Scotland.. after 45 mins we found ourselves in a rainstorm... and there was no meaning really to change as the backpack was just as wet. This expla

Getting started!

I have now spent a few good hours on the treadmill and also on the street, and my running has improved! Yesterday, after feeling pretty good after my 10k race on Sunday, I was quite up for another run and wanted to get out there! As it gets dark around 8pm I decided to run on the street, and after 1k, after thinking how easy and embarrasing it would be to fall on the uneven pavement.... I literally dived to the ground! I got a fan club quite quickly that hooped and cheered for me.... Ah well, my contribution to daily comedy! So there will be some rest for the next couple of days 'til the next run, when my knee and self respect is back to its normal standard :) See ya!

Kilimanjaro - the adventure!

Image
Soo... yesterday I signed up to climb the highest peak of Africa - Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania! I have wanted to do this for long, and now, after a great hike up Ben Nevis in Scotland, I finally got myself to register! I am doing this with Childreach International which is a charity helping children in the areas around Kilimanjaro. This is a common way of doing challenges in England, and I will join a group of others that also signed up for the same challenge. We all have to raise £2440 which will pay for our costs but mostly goes to the charity. I think this is a great way of fundraising! I decided to start writing about my way to the goal to get support from my friends, so please encourage me! :) Today, when Im now sitting eating my lunch, I am wondering how I am going to do this! How do I prepare? I am thrilled, excited and at the same time terrified! But I have a few good friends who already have done this, so I am sure it wont be a problem. But Im very focused, both on food
